Bo Bice Rocks Orlando Southern Style
By Todd Grasley/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com |
May 29, 2006 - Orlando, FL - Bo Bice, the runner up in last year's American Idol, graced fans at Hard Rock Live with his southern
charm on Monday night. Bice was the headliner of the concert with up and coming country artist Gary Nichols as the opening act.
At 9:00 p.m. Bo Bice was greeted by a sea of screaming fans, mostly women, as he started off the show with a jam session on guitar and his own rendition of the 70's song "Vehicle" by Ides of March.

Michelle Baker, of Eustis, FL was a Bo Bice fan from the beginning. "I'm
a big American Idol fan. I followed Bo from the beginning, I like when he sings the oldies." Besides "Vehicle," Bice also sang a
cover of the Allman Brothers classic, "Whipping Post."
The crowd ranged from kids to grandparents, and Bice didn't disappoint the younger generation. He jammed out on the guitar, and sang numerous songs such as "You Make Me Better" and his hit single "The Real Thing," off his debut album with the same name. "The Real Thing," is about a man trying to convince the lady in his life that their love is the real thing, and the thoughts they are both feeling and thinking are real.
Bice said of coming to Orlando, "This was a neat experience tonight coming back here to Orlando, post Idol. I have some of my best friends up here; Gary Nichols, all those guys, the fans, everyone out there."
Bo ended the show with an amazing juxtaposition of the Lynyrd Skynyrd classics "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama," something I have never heard done before. Both songs had fans in the audience dancing and singing, making it a great way to end the concert. Adding to the enjoyment of the show was Hardrock Live's first rate acoustics and their always helpful event staff who went out of their way to get chairs for a couple of individuals with health problems.
Bo Bice got his first guitar when he was 9 years old and hasn't stopped performing since. A runner up finish to Carrie Underwood in Season 4 of American Idol propelled his career, and put him on the path to success. The 31 year old from Huntsville, AL will continue performing throughout the U.S. with stops in Valdosta, Ga, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Syracuse, NY.
