Big City Rock Returns To Orlando
By Liz Fernandez/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com |
July 17, 2006 - Orlando, FL -
It was only a month ago that I had seen California hailing Big City Rock take the stage at the Social. And although their was a relatively small audience and not entirely high energy, the band put on a tremendous show that night and won me over instantly as a fan. But this night, being the second time I see them, Big City Rock performed as if they were a completely different band. They were so on point with their hits and their energy was at an all time high. The crowd responded by dancing, cheering and even caught on to some of their lyrics and sang along.

I saw the band do a pre-performance ritual as they huddled in a circle and promised to put on killer show. And that they did, from the moment they took the stage. Lead singer Nate Bott appeared more comfortable in front of this Orlando crowd and almost carried a different façade keeping a very confident pose and not denying any audience member a good stare in the face. Because of the Social’s intimate setting he was able to reach out to certain audience members and demand them to bop along. He just seemed more comfortable and very passionate as he rejoiced his lyrics and he should have been very happy with the audience’s response. Big City Rock was able to turn the bodies on the bar stools to face their direction.

Keyboard player Frank Staniszewski complimented Bott’s energy as he grooved uncontrollably with the rhythm. Drummer, Kamuyar, hit the drums profoundly and with every pound I witnessed heads and feet tapping happily along.
Towards the end of their set Bott said “this is an enlightenment,” and added, “not a cause, but a movement.” This simple statement made the audience scream along and appeared to catch on to this “enlightenment.” Positive lyrics like in Human, catchy hooks and non stop foot tapping energy during All Of The Above, added a few more new fans for Big City Rock this evening during their Love and Heat tour performance. BCR established their ground in Orlando and should be forever welcomed here. They were definitely the major highlight of the night.
