Q: How did the band come up with the name 'Authority Zero'?
Bill: We had gone through a plethora of different names but nothing seemed to stick. We were at a loss until I stumbled on to a computer screen on which
was the word Authority, then a colon and then the numeral zero which was blinking. We decided that we liked the connotation and stuck with it.
Q: How did the band form?
Bill: We all met up in high school in 1994. I met Jason through a mutual friend and then rhythm guit, Jerry Douglas. Jeremy Wood was a compa that we knew
from guitar class. We started jammin' and became Authority Zero.
Q: How difficult was it for AZ to get inked to a record deal?
Bill: It was extremely difficult. We played all of Arizona and parts of Mexico for a decade and finally got noticed. It was well worth it, but grueling.
Q: "Andiamo" is scheduled for release on June 29, 2004, what are your thoughts on this album?
Bill: I think that it reflects more precisely our live energy. There are minimal effects and minimal overdubs. I think that it's a raw album that sounds
thicker than it's predecessor.
Q: What are some of your favorite tracks off the album?
Bill: My personal favorites are "1000 years of war" and "Painted Windows." 1000 years is rad because it directly confronts seemingly
un resolvable conflict
occurring in the world today. Painted Windows
just has an old
skool So Cal energy bomb feel.
Q: What songs will be released as singles?
Bill: We will be releasing Revolution, Mexican Radio, Find Your Way
and possibly Madman.
Q: How does the band decide this?
Bill: You just feel it. It has to be a song that people will dig without blending into the vast musical abyss.
Q: Can a fan pre-order the CD?
Bill: Preorders are available on our site (authorityzero.com) and I
believe on Itunes.
Q: Will there be any music videos made?
Bill: We just made a video for Revolution. It turned out even better then expected. I believe you can check it out on Lava's website.
Q: How can a fan become a member of the Authority Zero Street team?
Bill: Once again, authorityzero.com is the oasis than contains all of our info, including where to sign up for the street team.
Q: What are some of the good up and coming bands from Arizona we may hear about in the future?
Bill: Well, there is a ton. Check for Redfield and Hall 13.
Q: Authority Zero is playing some dates on this year's Vans Warped Tour. How do you feel the band benefits from playing on a tour of this magnitude?
Bill: Definitely, this is the perfect show. Tons o' kids havin' tons o' fun.
Q: Speaking of concerts. It's your dream concert. You can perform with Any Band(s) of any era. What bands would you pick?
Bill: Rancid, The Doors, Ozo Matli, Manu Chao and us. hehehe!
Q: What do you think the future holds for Authority Zero?
Bill: Well, hopefully more albums and more opportunities to play with those to whom we have looked up.
Q: What advice would you give a young musician who is trying to break into the business?
Bill: Having a website is a must. Also, bend but never break.
Q: Is there anything you would like to say to the fans of Authority Zero?
Bill: Thanks for the support over the years and we hope to keep supplying more phunky phresh musique!
Q: Thank you for your time.
Bill: SLAINTE'!
