"The 69 Eyes" Invade Orlando
by K. Shawn Davis/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com

July 6, 2007 - Orlando, FL - The 69 EYES formed in the early 90's in Helsinki with their gothic vocals and glam rock sound. Jyrki69 is the deep and dark vocals fronting these known vampires. Bazie and Timo Timo on guitars pouring sex appeal and glittering riffs into the audience. On bass is Archzie playing mean bass into the crowd. Jussie69 is the drummer with his own explosive style making this group of rock stars.

Stopping in Orlando on their "Angels Love Devils Tour 2007" as headliner at House of Blues on July 6, 2007. Most compared to HIM, The Doors, and Type O Negative would right on in my opinion.

Hitting the Stage with their dark gothic rocker look most fitting since
their crowd was sporting the same black leather and thick black eyeliner style. Watching the excited crowd surf and jump was enough to see why this band appeals to the masses old and young alike. The deep vocals feel like they reach down your throat to grab your attention. It appeared as if the crowd was levitating toward the stage. Almost as if they were under hypnosis with Jyrkie69 as the hypnotist. All the dirty Rockers came out to see this show.

Members of The Genitorturers, Lunatic Candy Kreep, and several local bands and prominent industry were spotted at this show. New younger fans who came out described the band as "Amazing" when asked.

The House of Blues really needs to improve their lighting techniques. Their constant use of red lighting keeps the band so in the dark you cannot see their faces whether you’re near or far away from the stage. Some mixure of white lighting through out the show would enhance the overall concert experience for fans while allowing them to better see their favorite musician(s) especially during solos.

Holding a full crowd for over 45 minutes that already knew the words to new tracks off the 2007 release by EMI / Caroline called "Angels" is quite a challenge for most performers unlike "The 69 Eyes" who played to their fans and for their fans. The most crowd reaction appeared to be during "Never Say Die" where it was like a 300 person connection singing the chorus. All moving in sway stage front. The band members appeared to be having a moment
themselves which really made it all come together.

The 69 Eyes have almost Americanized themselves with their Hollywood Sunset Strip feel that brings out the same crowd as the L.A. Rock Scene. If you really want to hear lyrics that will move your soul and make you rock out check out these gothic rockers. I would highly recommend catching a date on the remainder of the "Angels Love Devils Tour".

The 69 Eyes are from Helsinki, Finland and tour on a regular basis.

The 69 Eyes are:
Jyrki69 - Vocals
Jussi69 - Drum
Bazie - Guitar
Timo Timo - Guitar
Archzie - Bass
