National Geographic Channel Launches New Video Hub Web Site With Six Broadband Channels Website Features More Than 1,000 Clips Plus Long-Form Programming

(WASHINGTON, D.C. February 4, 2008) Extending National Geographic Channels (NGC) mission to showcase the finest programming and spectacular imagery available across all media, the Channel has launched ngcvideos.com:, a robust online resource for NGC video content, including full-length programs.

The sites broad range of short-form content features excerpts from the networks
award-winning programs, original content including behind-the-scenes footage from National Geographic productions and expeditions, as well as clips showcasing the groundbreaking conservation and research efforts of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which operates the world-famous Bronx Zoo, among other highly respected facilities.

In addition, the new site allows users to post NGCs clips to their own Web sites or blogs, share clips via e-mail and receive tune-in information for NGC programs related to the online clips. Available by a click of the mouse the broadband site includes approximately 100 different short-form videos in each of six different channels Animals & Nature, Exploration & Adventure, History & Events, People & Places, Science & Technology and NGC Wild. In addition, each channel offers a different full-length program each week to encourage visitors to return on a regular basis.

We constantly listen to our users and learned they wanted one single destination where they could access a diverse range of NGCs high-quality programming, said Brad Dancer, National Geographic Channels Vice President of Research and Digital Media. They told us that it was important to offer diversity both in terms of subject matter and length of content. We designed this site to satisfy that growing demand, and Im exceptionally pleased with the results.

The six different channels available via ngcvideos.com are as follows:

Animals & Nature: Features animals that share our immediate environment, as well as natures most magnificent places and NGCs popular series Dog Whisperer. Examples of shows include Hooked: Monster Fish; Ultimate Croc; Secret Yellowstone; Extreme Alaska and the critically acclaimed special Galpagos.

People & Places: Includes some of NGCs most popular and headline-grabbing programs, including series Taboo and Lockdown and specials like American Skinheads.

Science & Technology: From outer space to your inner body, from dinosaur discoveries to the ultimate factories of the world, anything sci-tech is featured in these show clips. Examples include Inside the Living Body; Ultimate Factories: Corvette and BMW; Naked Science: Dangers of the Deep and Man-Made: Super Sewer.

Since launching in January 2001, NGC initially earned some of the fastest distribution growth in the history of cable and more recently the fastest ratings growth in television. The network celebrated its fifth anniversary January 2006 with the launch of NGC HD which provides the spectacular imagery that National Geographic is known for in stunning high-definition. NGC has carriage with all of the nation's major cable and satellite television providers, making it currently available to more than 67 million homes.
