All American Football League To Conduct Team Florida Try-Out At Skyway Park In Tampa October 12, 2007 Team Florida Camp Will Feature Former Gators, Seminoles, Hurricanes, And Graduates From Other Florida Universities

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The All American Football League will conduct a try-out camp for roster positions on Team Florida. The camp will be held at Skyway Park in Tampa on Friday, October 12, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

According to Team Florida head coach and former University of Florida great Shane Matthews, former players from the state's top college football programs are scheduled to participate in the camp. "As evidenced by the Team Florida front office personnel and coaching staff along with the players who've already been offered contracts, the All American Football League is committed to building Team Florida around people long associated with football in the state of Florida," said Matthews. "These players continue to have a strong following among their schools' alumni and fan base," he added.

Among the players scheduled to participate in the camp are Mo Mitchell and Earl Everett from the University of Florida, Kyler Hall and Paul Irons from Florida State, Kevin Beard and Jarrell Weaver from Miami, Tim Jones and Hugh Smith from South Florida and Central Florida's Stanford Ruhle. Former Florida standouts signed to contracts and scheduled to participate in the camp include Chris Doering, Fred Weary, Eli Williams, Willie Jackson, Steve Rissler and Tony George.

In addition to the appointment of Matthews as head coach, Wayne McDaniel has been named President of Team Florida. Lee McGriff serves as Chairman of the Board. Last month, League and team officials joined representatives from the University of Florida's Athletic Association to announce an agreement for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to be a venue for Team Florida. The team will play three of its five home games at the famed venue during the inaugural 2008 season.

Members of the Team Florida coaching staff include: Jim Collins, Defensive Coordinator (former coach at the University of Florida, Marshall, Duke and in the NFL), Red Anderson, Defensive Line Coach (former University of Florida coach) and Terry Jackson, Running Backs Coach (former University of Florida running back).

"The Team Florida try-out is another important step in the evolution of the All American Football League as we prepare for the inaugural season and game which will be played on April 12, 2008," said Keenan Davis, Vice President of League Operations. "Beginning with the first try-out camp conducted in Orlando last July, other milestone moments include try-outs conducted at Legion Field in Birmingham, War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock and Ford Field in Detroit and the signing of stadium agreements for the Alabama and Arkansas teams in addition to Team Florida and numerous player signings," said Davis.

With the inaugural championship game scheduled for July 3rd, the All American Football League is aligning with the passion for college football and the year-round fan interest in the game's traditions and rivalries. The League's six charter teams will be located in avid college football markets with teams representing Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan, Arkansas and Texas.

Another point of difference is the League's player eligibility requirement. Developed by the League's Board of Directors, chaired by former NCAA President Cedric Dempsey, players must have earned their Bachelor's degree in addition to exhausting their college football eligibility to be eligible to play in the All American Football League.
