Firescape Gearing Up For Dancehall Apocalypse On June 12, 2007 Announces National Tour With Madina Lake And Emanuel
Orange County, CA - When Firescape releases its debut album Dancehall Apocalypse on We the People Records on June 12, 2007, they’re going to make sure the entire nation is ready for their brand of ass-kickin' melodic rock by prepping with a tour. Head Firescaper Josh Partington and his band will ring around the US including a show they played at Anaheim’s Chain Reaction on May 21st and then wrapping up in Rochester, NY on June 12, 2007 (tour dates below). They will be hitting the road with Madina Lake and Emanuel.
The brainchild of Partington (guitarist of Something Corporate), Firescape isn’t a side project but in fact the next step in his musical direction. Joining forces with Hunter MacDonald (bass), Corey Rife (drums), and Brian Weber (guitar), Firescape displays a haunting energy and a drive that is fueled both by personal lyrics and choruses that have an unshakeable confidence and warmth.
And with Dancehall Apocalypse, they've managed to make an album that is infinitely listenable while musically complex. It's a dichotomy of sorts - melancholy intermingling with hope, melodies intertwining with textures, aggro guitars mixed with comforting vocals. But all the while, it maintains its composure and never loses track of its direction. With such stellar tracks as the epic "The Sound" to the chiming "Oh No" to the kick-ass compulsion of "Erase This", Dancehall Apocalypse is a fully-realized and cohesive album that keeps you enthralled and ready for the repeat button.
Partington also contributed two poems, "27 Hours" and "Orchids," for Revolution on Canvas, Volume 2: Poetry from the Indie Music Scene, the follow-up to the successful collection of poetry and prose by musicians, such as Meg & Dia, Chiodos, Hellogoodbye and Deftones. It was released on Ad Astra Books on May 9, 2007.
