Biffy Clyro Finds A U.S. Home At RoadRunner Records

Glaswegian rockers to headline In The City of New York festival on June 14, 2007.

New York, NY – Roadrunner Records announces the U.S. acquisition of Glasgow’s latest rock sensation Biffy Clyro, a trio being heralded in some UK circles as “the new Nirvana.” Puzzle is the band’s breakthrough new album, and is garnering massive attention in Britain. It was produced by GGGarth (Rage Against the Machine, Mudvayne, Chevelle, Red Hot Chili Peppers), who brought the band to his Vancouver home to track. Puzzle was engineered by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Slipknot, Rush, Motley Crue, Jimmy Page) and mixed in New York by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Slayer, Jeff Buckley). It will be released in the U.S early fall.

Comprised of twin brothers Ben and James Johnston and their high school mate Simon Neil, Biffy Clyro formed when they were teenagers in Scotland and already have three albums under their belts. Puzzle, their fourth and most prolific album is poised to be the voice of a new era of British hard rock. A mix of Nirvana meets Muse meets Fugazi, the music encompasses a masterful combination of power chords, sweet melodies, insightful lyrics crushing riffs, marching beats, even some orchestral elements courtesy of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.

“I'm really excited to be working with Biffy Clyro, they are such a creative and unique rock band and their live show is so powerful,” Says Roadrunner A&R man Ron Burman, who signed the band. “Their new record Puzzle is deep with great lyrics and hooks that stay with you for days. The band has honed their skills and built a devout following in the UK, thanks to their stellar songwriting and extensive touring. We're psyched to have them be part of our U.S. Roadrunner family.”

The onslaught of UK press praise for Biffy Clryo is nothing short of impressive. The band has been featured on the cover of Rock Sound and Kerrang! and has been covered in NME, The Sunday Times, Big Cheese, The Fly, among many others.

“Puzzle is a masterpiece. There’s a new name placed in front of a seat at the high table of UK bands and artists.” - Kerrang! Puzzle rated “KKKKK!”

“One of the most significant British albums in a decade” – NME.

“The wider music world NEEDS Biffy Clyro – their energy, their passion, their commitment” – Rock Sound; Puzzle rated 10/10!.

“Spot on melodies over a delightful ruckus of spontaneous riffs” - Daily Record.

Biffy Clyro will headline New York’s inaugural In the City music fest at the Highline Ballroom on June 14, 2007. The band will return to the States for their first U.S. tour during August when they join the Warped Tour for two weeks. Please visit www.roadrunnerrecords.com for the latest tour dates.
