War - Loose Groves: Funkin' Live In England 1980 and Blood, Sweat & Tears - Spinning Wheel Two Latest Exclusive DVD's From MVD

WAR - LOOSE GROOVES: FUNKIN' LIVE IN ENGLAND 1980:

One of the most popular funk groups of the '70s, War were also one of the most eclectic, freely melding soul, Latin, jazz, blues, reggae, and rock influences into an effortlessly funky whole. This concert DVD, filmed April 9th. 1980 by Jeffery Kruger, perfectly illustrates the picture painted in the above description. As well as the extended improvisations this film also includes the band presenting faithful versions of their big hits Cisco Kid and Low Rider. By this point in the bands career they had effectively been a unit for a decade and their experience shows in the almost effortless and laid back way they hit their groove.

BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS - SPINNING WHEEL
:

As initially conceived by Al Kooper, Blood, Sweat & Tears was the first and best of the jazz-rock horn bands. Though Kooper departed after the debut album, new singer David Clayton-Thomas led the band to huge commercial success with a more pop-oriented approach. BST epitomized post '60s eclecticism, crafting Top 40 hits out of musical influences as disparate as Billie Holiday, Tim Buckley, and Erik Satie. "Spinning Wheel" features a full live show from the band's 1980 UK tour - and includes hit singles "You Made Me So Very Happy", "Spinning Wheel" and "Hi-De-Ho".
