"Taboo" (NEW SEASON) Starting This August 2007:
National Geographic Channel's popular Taboo series returns for a new
season this August, taking viewers on a high-definition journey beyond
their comfort zones and across cultural borders to explore rituals and
customs that are acceptable in some cultures but forbidden, illegal or
reviled in others. Crossing the boundary between modern practices and
ancient beliefs, the series showcases a mosaic of human lifestyles and
values.
"Taboo: Initiation Rituals" (Season Premiere)
Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 9:00 PM ET/PT (World Premiere) - A Special Sneak
Preview Before Series Moves to Regular Night and Time of Wednesdays at
10:00 PM ET/PT
Delve into rituals that mark the passage from one phase of life to
another - where pain is the price of acceptance and failure means loss
of pride and sometimes even loss of life. NGC takes viewers to
Australia, where members of an urban subculture are pierced through
their skin with giant hooks and suspended from the ceiling. Then, deep
in the Amazon jungle of Brazil, teenage boys thrust their hands inside
specially woven gloves filled with hundreds of huge stinging ants. And
they repeat the excruciating ritual 19 more times in order to become
men. Finally, in Papua New Guinea, see how boys endure swallowing about
24 inches of raw cane down their throat to the pit of their stomach so
they can symbolically die as boys and be reborn as men.

from a professional trainer to muzzling to treats, but nothing has
worked. Can Cesar Millan turn this Kerry blue terrier into a merry blue
terrier? Next, go inside a retirement home where Maltese dogs Maggie
and Molly have become so territorial they now bite anyone who
approaches. The manager has warned that if the dogs bite one more
person, they will be banned. Can Cesar squash Maggie and Molly's nip?
Then, meet a male bloodhound/Catahoula mix named Bojo, who so frequently
attacks his canine companion - a rescued stray female named Tippy - that
they must be separated. Tippy is afraid to do anything that would cause

spaniel mix named Schroeder shows aggression toward other dogs even
while on a leash. How will Cesar step in to calm this problem pooch?

glass windows or opening doors. Cesar Millan is called in to
rehabilitate this three-legged escape artist. Then, meet Rudy, a manic
Jack Russell terrier, who likes to attack motorcycles. His owners have
taken him along on motorcycle rides but it is not a pleasant experience.

help a dog that's fixated on a Harley? Finally, meet a border collie

German shepherds - Dax, Pete and Nixa. For six years, Brigitte has been
trying to keep the peace by alternating the three competitive dogs

Cesar stop this ridiculous rotation? Next, meet Malcolm and Judi
Sitkoff, who were enjoying a quiet life until Snowflake, a fluffy bichon
frise, arrived. Snowflake has warmed up to Malcolm but still gives Judi
the cold shoulder. Judi is so afraid Snowflake might bite her in the
middle of night that she now sleeps in the living room recliner. How

all people except his owner. Sonny routinely joins his owner at a
center for special needs patients, but stays under the desk crippled
with fear. With Cesar Millan's help, Sonny learns to bring joy to the
lives of his owner's mentally disabled clients. Next, Cesar meets a

"Dog Whisperer: Spike, Jake & Nugget, and Wendell" at 10:00 PM ET/PT

Ande Endewardt and her family adopted a German shepherd named Spike.
But he has torn apart his crate and a chain leash supposedly strong
enough to contain a 250-pound dog. Spike has even been to dog obedience
school for six weeks, but during this time he bit a 15-year-old boy.
Can Cesar go where previous trainers have failed and rehabilitate this
dangerous dog? Megan Traver, a schoolteacher, was so happy with her
8-year-old sheltie named Nugget that she decided to get another sheltie,
a 2-year-old named Jake. But Jake barks endlessly in the car and has
even bitten Nugget. Megan can handle a classroom full of kids, but her
own home is out of control. Can Cesar's school for shelties turn her
life around?

- and Judy's dog Tina - a pit bull mix - are very aggressive toward
each other. Cesar is called in to bridge the rift. Finally, Russ and
Nancy Briley adopted Nugget - a bluetick hound/great Dane mix - when he
was just 2 months old. As he grew larger, so did his appetite. Nugget

any or all of them? Also, meet Major Jones, a one-and-a-half-year-old

takes him for a walk. How will Cesar subdue Major? Then, the Smith
family is thrilled with their complete renovation of a charming
bungalow, especially its sleek hardwood floors. The problem is that

heaven?

Fosse, the four-pound dog has taken over owner Daphne's morning routine.

appliances. What was once cute behavior has become potentially
life-threatening as Fosse now attacks electrical cords. How will Cesar

Tijuana and brought back to the United States, where Cesar works to
rehabilitate several of them, including a dachshund he adopts for
himself. Then, meet Chloe, a disrespectful cocker spaniel. Maureen,
who has cerebral palsy, received Chloe as a gift from her grandfather in
the hopes that the dog would provide her with emotional and physical
support. But the 8-year-old Chloe has taken to taunting Maureen,
sometimes even knocking her from her walker. When people try to greet

Sara, a rescued shepherd mix with a bite as bad as her bark. She nips
at her owner's mother, once bit a repairman and frequently chases after
bikers and joggers. How will Cesar soothe Sara's aggression? Then,
Cesar travels to Bennington, Neb., to help a pushy poodle grow out of
her puppy behavior. For the past year and a half, Lilly, a standard
poodle, has jumped and nudged her owners' guests to the point where they

will protect and camouflage him so he can approach these crocs. To
design this suit properly, he tests different ideas on a range of
ferocious beasts, ranging from grizzly bears to wolves to rodeo bulls.
After making final modifications, Barr heads to Tanzania to test his new
croc suit in the field. His goal is to attach a scientific instrument
to a croc without disturbing its normal behavior.
