Osceola GhostRiders Travel North To Take On The Augusta, GA Spartans On Friday April 13, 2007

[KISSIMMEE, Fla.] – The Osceola GhostRiders (3-2) will travel to Augusta, GA to take on the Spartans (2-3) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at James Brown Arena. The GhostRiders are coming off a huge 62-23 win over Daytona Beach. Meanwhile the Spartans were blown out 69-30 last Saturday at WIFL leading Columbus.

The GhostRiders defeated Augusta 52-37 during their first meeting on February 24, 2007 in Kissimmee, FL. Head Coach Marquette Smith knows Augusta will be ready for the GhostRiders ground attack, “They will focus on trying to stop the run.”

Osceola will have a different look than the team that beat the Spartans in the first match up. “They haven’t seen Harding, Fernandez or Bunting,” states Smith.

Smith expects the offense to step up for a couple of reasons, “We missed a lot of reads in the first game; we are more experienced at the QB position and overall now. With all of the injuries on the defensive side of the ball, we’ll need to score more points than normal to pull out the win.”

This game marks the homecoming of Augusta native, David Aubrey. “I was born in raised in Augusta and I can’t wait to go home,” says the GhostRiders offensive captain. Aubrey played football at Butler High School in Augusta and is looking forward to seeing family and friends, “I’ll have about 30-40 family and friends at the game.”
