Simeon and Paalzow Win Beach Tennis Tournament In Fort Lauderdale, FL Competition Heats Up In Anticipation Of Miami Tournament, May 5, 2007
New York, NY (April 10, 2007) – Beach Tennis USA, the organization responsible for launching the hybrid sport of beach tennis in North America, held the second of three South Florida events of its 2007 National Tour this weekend in Fort Lauderdale. Over 30 pro teams from nine countries turned out to compete.
In the Men’s Pro division, Rick Simeon and Niclas Paalzow, both of Miami Lakes, defeated Borys Czarnecki and Maurice Ruah of Aventura, 9-7. With their win, Simeon and Paalzow took home a $1,000 cash prize and automatically qualified for a spot in this year’s Beach Tennis USA National Championship, which will be held on Labor Day weekend (September 1-2) in Long Beach, New York.
In the Women’s Pro division, Jessica Lehnhoff, of Delray Beach, and Stella Lehnhoff of Boca Raton, defeated Lil Peltz-Petow of Boca Raton and Betsey Savitt of Delray Beach, to take the first place crown.
Beach Tennis USA will travel to Miami for its first major televised event: the Sunshine State Slam, on May 5-6. Players wishing to compete in either event can register online at beachtennisusa.net.
