Atreyu Begin Work On Highly Anticipated Hollywood Records Debut Album Scheduled For A Late Summer 2007 Release Atreyu To Join Korn And Evanescence On The Summer Values Tour Toour Kicks Off On July 20, 2007
LOS ANGELES, CA - Acclaimed metallic rock band ATREYU
has entered a Los Angeles recording studio to begin work on their fourth st
udio album and first for Hollywood Records. The yet-to-be-titled disc is be
ing produced by John Feldmann (The Used, Good Charlotte) and is tentatively
scheduled for a late summer 2007 release. The band will be previewing songs from the new album during this summer on the Family Values Tour, which kicks off July 20, 2007 with headliners Korn and Evanescence (dates and venues to
be announced).
The Orange County, CA-based quintet (vocalist Alex Varkatzas, guitarist Dan
Jacobs, guitarist Travis Miguel, bassist Marc McKnight and drummer/vocalist Brandon Saller) arrived on the sceneand quickly made their presence felt in 2002 with their much-lauded debut album, Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses. The album redefined Southern California's heavy rock sound and
established Atreyu as its most exciting young voice.
They maintained their pack leader position with 2004's The Curse, which went on to sell nearly 400,000 copies. The band toured heavily in support, playing 2004's Ozzfest and headlining the main stage on 2005's Warped Tour,
in addition to their own successful headlining run. They exploded in 2006 with A Death Grip On Yesterday, which hit No. 9 on the Billboard charts and
was praised by Guitar World as an album that blends influences such as New
Wave of British Heavy Metal and guitar virtuosity on the level of 1980s hair metal into a distinctive amalgam that's exciting young headbangers. They graced the covers of Revolver and Alternative Press, garnered airplay on MTV and Fuse and spent last summer headlining the second stage at Ozzfest after signing with Hollywood Records.
As for the new album, lead singer Alex Varkatzas says, "We're really excited to be working with John Feldmann. I don't want to give anything away, but we're tossing around all kinds of ideas and are leaving ourselves
open to endless possibilities. We are going to challenge ourselves."
Upon the announcement of the band joining the line-up on this year's Family Values Tour, guitarist Travis Miguel says, "We've been off the road
for a number of months now, which for us is quite a while, so to come out of hiding on a tour like this is more than any band could ask for."
