Taking Back Sunday: Louder Now
by LeeAnn M. Huntoon/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com

July 12, 2006 - With a new edge, Taking Back Sunday has redefined themselves. Forming in 1999 these NY locals have expanded their talents and strengthened their sound. There is no doubt that these five guys have grown into an all-together high-energy rock explosion. Recently signing with Warner Bros. records in 2005, this chance gave the band an opportunity to grow musically. This is what the band had been yearning for, to bring something new to the fans, but still maintain that previous TBS resonance. With the help of producer Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Third Eye Blind) the intensity of there third album “Louder Now ” has propelled dramatically into a climax of syncopated rhythm, an aggressive in your face album with the well-known vocals and melodic hardcore rock that is proverbial to Taking Back Sunday. This album makes it possible to bring the energy of a live show right into your speakers.

Matt Rubano of Taking Back Sunday

“We felt that our previous albums didn’t really capture the impact and energy of our show as well as “Louder Now.” We wanted to make a really big epic rock record, and also have a lot of growth for our sound. I feel that we’ve accomplished that,” said bassist Matt Rubano.

Just listening to Matt Rubano talk about the creating the music for this album shows the eagerness and the drive these guys have about what they do. Many songs where written for this album but only a few made the cut. The boys came together with their newly found producer and set out to expose something great. A progressive sound that still reverberates the Taking Back Sunday vibe. Since they are constantly touring, it is often hard to find time to write new material, but when inspiration does hit, often times it hits hard. This proves true with their first song on the album, “What Does It Feel Like To Be A Ghost” which in fact was the first song chosen for the entire feel of this album. After hearing a riff played by fellow band mate and lead singer Adam Lazzara, the band knew they had something great.

“We hadn’t really written the rest of the music, but we knew that was going to be the first song on the album. It was sort of like a catalyst for us that propelled us to do the rest of the writing where that song kind of helped the record take shape.” – Matt.

Persistently hectic and never wanting to dissatisfy the masses, Taking Back Sunday is on tour again, this time on a widespread American tour with the Subways, Head Automatica, and Angels and Airwaves. All though it has been surpassed before, Florida has not been forgotten. In fact TBS is heading your way this week. Starting at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater on July 12, 2006 . If you miss that show, don’t fret. You can catch them again July 13 for the 97X Summer Rock Show in Clearwater.

“The package is really great and we’ve just been really excited to bring this tour all over the country. This is one of the tours where we feel very proud that all the bands are doing their own thing and sort of make this great night of music. So we’re really anxious to get down their.”- Matt.
