Bloodsimple fury takes hard rock and metal to a new level

Generated from the remnants of NY metalcore band Visions of Disorder, Bloodsimple has created a hard-hitting, honest and brutal type of music. Their first album A Cruel World
has been a success, and they even scored a spot on the Jagermeister tour with Mudvayne.
“[Bloodsimple] started back in late 2001. Mike (Kennedy)
and I were in VOD (Visions of Disorder) which started going
in a direction that we weren’t too into,” lead vocalist Tim Williams said. “So, we decided we wanted to start a heavy side project, but still stay with VOD because we liked the band
and the guys. After 9/11, VOD went on a permanent hiatus. So, Mike and I said ‘fuck it’ and made Bloodsimple
our main priority.”
Soon the Bloodsimple idea became readily achievable with the addition of Nick Rowe, Kyle Sanders, and Chris Hamilton. Chad Grey of Mudvayne discovered the band and signed
them to Bullygoat Records/Reprise Records. Bloodsimple’s hard work paid off when they finally transformed their musical notions into their debut album A Cruel World.

“From beginning to front, it took about three and a half almost four months [to record A Cruel World]. We were in the studio all summer up in Vancouver. We took a break at the end of August and came back in September and pretty much ended at the end of Thanksgiving,” Williams said.
Before they recorded A Cruel World, Bloodsimple had about 25 songs ready to showcase to the world. However, most of those songs wouldn’t get the honor of making it onto the album.
“We had the producer of the record come in to New York for about a week and a half so we could play him a bunch of stuff. He would tell us what was good, what’s not good, what parts were strong enough. I didn’t want to have a long record. I don’t like long records. I think A Cruel World is eleven songs so that’s cool,” Williams said.
“Falling Backwards” features Chad Grey of Mudvayne. Bloodsimple considers Grey a huge instrumental part to the “Bloodsimple machine.”
“[Grey] discovered us, put his name out there for us, and got us a record deal. It was really good to work with him in the studio. I don’t feel we really, truly started to get to know Chad until we went out on the road with him and Mudvayne. Now we’re real tight with those guys,” said Williams.
Williams believes “Straight Hate” is a brutal representation of what Bloodsimple is about. Its heavy aggressiveness is what sets this band apart from many of the other hard rock and metal bands trying to make it in the industry today.
“[‘Straight Hate’] wasn’t even supposed to be on the record. It’s basically the most identifiable part on the record. Songs like ‘Flatline’ have some really deep lyrical meaning which also reached new territory for me as a singer and for us as a band. I don’t see a lot of heavy bands doing stuff like that at all. That makes me proud and I’m happy with that one,” said Williams.
After gaining touring experience the Bloodsimple guys have already become partial to indoor venues.
“My ideal is 1,000 capacity club packed to the gills. Those are the best. The sound is there, kids are going crazy, and a nice three to four foot stage is just my favorite. We like to go meet people and hang out with the fans after shows. We usually have a few people at the merch tables,” said Williams.
Despite the fact that Bloodsimple recently released their first album and have continuously toured with Mudvayne and Disturbed, they plan on recording another album within the coming months.
Bloodsimple encourages fans to go to their MySpace page to keep in contact with the band and to receive updates on the band’s plan for a new album.
“The best way to keep in touch with Bloodsimple is through the MySpace page. I was just on it; we’re on it everyday,” Williams said.
Bloodsimple plans to continue working hard to get their music heard and gain a respectable fan base. They hope to make an even better album and want to keep touring.
“Thanks [to the fans] for the support. Come out to the shows, hang out, drink some beers with us, and get ready for the next record. It’s going to be out within the next six months. If you liked A Cruel World this is just going to be the next level. The material is really fucking good,” said Williams.
