Orlando Predators Re-Sign Jake Eaton And Add Kevin Washington

ORLANDO , Fla. (Oct. 17) -- The Orlando Predators added a quality player to their quarterback depth chart today by re-signing free agent JAKE EATON to a one-year contract.

Eaton played his rookie season for the Predators last year, appearing in 10 games. He completed 37 of 54 passes for (68.5%) for 434 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions. His pass rating was a solid 114.27. In the post-season he played in ArenaBowl XX, where he was 4 for 4 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown.

Eaton will join Shane Stafford as the Predators quarterbacks for the 2007 season. Stafford , a highly-coveted free agent who had a record setting year with the Tampa Bay Storm, signed a two-year contract earlier this month.

“I am absolutely thrilled to get Jake Eaton back for another season,” Orlando Predators head coach JAY GRUDEN said. “He wanted to test the free agent market in hopes of becoming a starter and unfortunately that opportunity did not present itself during the off-season. I am convinced he has the ability to become a good starting quarterback in this league and Jake’s return to the Predators certainly gives me a feeling of security concerning our depth and quality at this position.”

A former standout at the University of Maine , Eaton played two seasons in the “arenafootball2” league. As a starter for Manchester in 2005, he threw for 4,066 yards and 88 touchdowns, hitting 382 of 539 passes (70.9%). He also played briefly in the Canadian Football League for Saskatchewan in 2003.

In addition, the Predators announced the signing of KEVIN WASHINGTON to a two-year deal. Washington played four seasons at Carson-Newman (TN), where he recorded 87 career tackles with five interceptions. Washington becomes the sixth player signed out of Orlando ’s Free Agent Tryout Camp on September 30, 2006.
